This Sugya explores the unique concept that exists solely regarding the Mitzvah of Sukkah - namely, that a Mitztaer - one who is uncomfortable - is exempt thereof. This exemption is found by no other Mitzvah. We discuss the Machlokes amongst the Rishonim as to why this is the case, and the various Halachic ramifications.
Included in this booklet are several real-life halachic scenarios of Mitztaer:
· How severe does the discomfort need to be?
· Does the exemption depend on whether or not the discomfort will be alleviated if one goes inside his home?
· Does the tza’ar need to be within the boundaries of the average person’s level of discomfort?
· Do the parameters of tza’ar differ when applied to sleeping in the Sukkkah?
· What if one left the Sukkah due to rain, and then it stopped raining?
· Can one make the Bracha of Leysheiv B’sukka if it started raining a bit – but has not yet reached the shiur of Mitztaer?
