This is the first publication of our series focusing on the Halachos of Yichud. These situations are encountered by everyone on a daily basis – at work, at home, in the car – with repairmen, domestic help, elevators, medical appointments, dating, babysitters, etc.  Many are not well-versed in these Halachos, which leads them to make uninformed decisions on their own – l’Kulah or l’Chumrah.  However, with a proper understanding of these detailed and specific Halachos, one can navigate these Halachos with clarity.

This Sugya serves as the introduction to the series.  We begin with divrei chizuk from our Gedolim on how to view this subject in the proper light.  We go on to define the source of this issur and how it evolved throughout the generations.  We discuss whether the issur is Min haTorah or Mid’Rabbanan, which will play a major role as we delve deeper into this Sugya – when we begin to discuss and understand which heterim can be applied to which scenarios.
