This sugya discusses the concept of a "Shomer" with
regards to the prohibition of Yichud. Specifically,
we discuss if the presence of a child can be considered Shmira for Yichud.
This has countless Halachic ramifications in our daily
lives. Some examples include: servicemen/cleaning women working in a home
when there is a child present (in addition to the woman/man), and girls babysitting
for boys.
We discuss the various reasons why a young child would be eligible to be a Shomer, and the halachic ramifications thereof.
In our next sugya, we will discuss the wide range of
opinions as to the exact age for a shomer for boys/girls.
