Explores the fundamentals of Bedikas Chometz. Is it part of the general obligation Min Hatorah to get rid of all Chometz (Tashbisu) - and in order for one to fulfill this Mitzvah of Tashbisu he must search for all his Chometz and destroy it? Or is one only obligated Min Hatorah to destroy the chometz that he "knows about" - and searching for Chometz is a completely independent Takanah instituted by Chazal as a precautionary measure?

Since the sources, discussions, and Halachic ramifications of this debate are vast, this publication is split into two totally separate Sugyos. The first Sugya deals primarily with the opinion that Bedikah is Min Hatorah (Rashi/Ran). The second sugya deals with the opinion that Bedika is only Mid'rabanan, as there is no Din Bal Yera'eh on Chometz that one does not know about.
