This sugya will deal with the concept of "Oness B'Yom Acharon". If one pushed off fulfilling an obligation until the last minute, and then, due to reasons beyond his control (oness) he was unable to fulfill this obligation, is he considered negligent or not?
One of the sources for this debate is found in next week’s sedra, Parshas
Behar, where the Torah grants a 12-month buy-back option for a seller of a
house under certain circumstances. What
if he waited until the last minute and was then prevented from executing this right
in time?
- ·
The Halacha is that if one
forgot to daven, he can daven a “make -up Tefillah” (i.e. Tashlumin). What if he did not forget, but kept postponing
his Tefillah – and then got extremely busy towards the end of the zman, which then
prevented him from davening on time?
- · What if one took part in activities that Chazal prohibited before davening (because he may become busy with them and forget to daven) – and in fact, he did miss the zman due to his involvement in the above? Is he still considered an oness?
- ·
Is forgetting considered an
“oness”?
